Weekends bring joyful bustling crowds, while weekdays offer a tranquil space to savour your matcha journey.

In this one-hour workshop, you will make two completely different matcha drinks with your own hands—a traditional matcha and a matcha cafe drink. Whether you're new to matcha or already in love with that vibrant green, this experience is perfect for you!
Please note that our beverage classes share the space with other workshop and drink-making classes.
You may be in the same room with students from other sessions.
Workshop highlights:
  • Immersive introduction to Japanese matcha: From warming the bowl to whisking up smooth foam, recreate the ritual ambience of a Kyoto tea garden.
  • Savour the classic matcha you prepared yourself while learning the etiquette of “wa, kei, sei, jaku” (harmony, respect, purity, tranquillity).
  • Create your signature drink: Choose your style: refreshing fruity “Bright Edition” or rich creamy “Velvety Edition.”
  • Mix and match from over 10 ingredients: Strawberry, yuzu, osmanthus, chocolate, coconut milk, lavender… design a unique flavour that’s all your own.
  • Customise your blend: Freely combine ingredients based on your preferences to create a one-of-a-kind matcha drink that reflects your personal taste.
  • Every cup is photo-ready—capture and share this lush, creative moment.
Suitable for participants aged 10 and above. No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and creativity, and join us as we explore the endless possibilities of this enchanting green magic!

FAQ

Hi Heer Tea, I'm interested in booking either "The Healing Art of Matcha" or the "Matcha Lab" workshop. Does either session include learning how to brew iced matcha?
Hi there, Thank you for your inquiry. Both workshops include matcha brewing and will meet your needs. Here's the main difference: The Healing Art of Matcha: Focuses more on the tea itself—its history, traditional preparation, and includes guided sessions on brewing matcha. Matcha Lab: Also covers brewing basics but emphasizes creating your own unique matcha-based drinks. We hope this helps! Looking forward to seeing you :)

  • 5/5 from Dan H, attended Jun 2026: I absolutely loved this matcha workshop! I came midweek and was the only student that day, so I basically got a private one-on-one lesson — such an amazing surprise! The instructor is so fun and knowledgeable. The matcha powder provided in class is really high-quality, nothing like those cheap, low-grade options you find elsewhere. They walked me through how to tell matcha from different regions and price tiers, how to pick authentic matcha, plus all the best storage tips for premium powder, so many useful takeaways! There were tons of creative options for iced matcha drinks too, lots of flavours I’d never tried before, it was such a fun discovery. My teacher even recommended their advanced specialist class if I want to dive deeper into regional flavours and master whisking techniques more systematically. I’m totally planning to come back for that advanced session later! Couldn’t be happier with this experience, 10/10 recommend to every matcha lover!
  • 3/5 from Cecilia Ho, attended Jun 2026: The highlight of the class was definitely the end, where we got to make our own matcha drink and choose the base, syrup, and tea. That part was fun and I enjoyed what I made. That said, the overall experience was harder to enjoy than expected. The class is situated right next to the wheel throwing class and the main entrance, so there was a lot of background noise and foot traffic throughout, which made it difficult to stay engaged and follow along with the teacher. The class felt more introductory than we expected based on the description. If you have some prior experience with matcha, it might be worth checking with them beforehand to make sure it's the right fit. The teacher had a great attitude and was clearly doing her best throughout.

  • 5/5 from Josceline Kumar Mills, attended Oct 2025: Special thanks to Iris who have taught me so much about Japanese Matcha preparation and culture of consuming it. Been so great to have a matcha workshop nearby South East of Melbourne. 2 thumbs up and highly recommended ️️️ PS: they also offer other workshops! Check it out from their sites for more info ℹ️
  • 5/5 from Claire Chan, attended Sep 2025: I had a great time learning everything about matcha and making my own drink! I was lucky enough to have my teacher Iris for myself. She is friendly and really knowledgeable. You'll start the session with some information about the tools you're using, what is matcha as well. Then, you'll get to make first a "plain matcha" (just with hot water) to finally be able to create your own drink with different ingredients she will provide. Definitely recommend this class!
