Patching uses fabric scraps to mend holes and strengthen threadbare clothing to make it last longer.
In this class you’ll learn a variety of methods for sewing and patching by hand, including DIY iron-on patches and secret (discreet) patches.
This class will focus on creative, visible mending – for maximum fun and ease of learning – but you’ll learn how to apply methods learned in this class to create invisible or blended mends, too.
Skill level
Beginner-intermediate. No mending experience is required, and the class can be made more challenging for experienced menders.
Tools and materials
Mending supplies will be available for purchase, or you are welcome to bring your own. Students will receive a list of recommended supplies upon booking.
What to bring
Clothing, tea towels or fabric for patching practice. If you don’t have anything in need of mending (lucky you!) you can practise with fabric scraps from SOSU’s stash.
