Pottery Throwing Wheel Spin and Paint: Intermediate Workshop

Create two pots on the wheel and paint them with underglaze

2 hours Class size 1 to 20 guests

  $129 (Afterpay available)

In this pottery class, you'll discover the therapeutic joys of working with clay and creating your own unique art. You will learn how to shape clay into beautiful pots, bowls, and vases using various techniques.
You'll get hands-on experience and guidance on how to use a pottery wheel, hand-building methods, glazing, and firing processes.
Ideally, you have done the Pottery Wheel Beginners session and have the ability to make something a little better for glaze firing. We now have the Wheel Spin And Paint Intermediate Session.
In this session, you will make 1-2 pieces on the wheel allowing enough time to paint the pieces. Then, once removed from the wheel, you'll be using the Underglaze colours to paint directly on the piece. You can get some professional detail as we take it off the wheel, so you're not just colouring it in one or two plain colours.
These 1-2 pieces will then go through the kiln firing process. With the first bisque firing, we will then apply the glaze to the pieces for the second glaze firing. We quote 4 weeks for pickup guaranteed, so we do not have to message you, as they will be automatically ready no later than that date. Generally, we take 3 weeks; however guaranteed 4 weeks for pickup in our main studio for 1 week days between 1 pm and 5:30 pm.
Please note: Minimum of 4 people are required to run public sessions; alternatively, we do have private sessions with special pricing for 1 to 30 people.
If you book and we do not have the minimum of 4 people, we will be in contact with you to reschedule the date
We also offer small group sessions and public sessions with a minimum of 4 people in a public session up to 10 people. We have two throwing room studios, so we tend to split the bookings with an average class size of 6 people.

Providing social art classes in beautiful South Brisbane

4.7 (2,486)

I'm a Brisbane-based artist, and I've been painting and drawing since my early childhood days. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship from the Queensland Art Gallery, which gave me ample opportunity to pursue my passion and hone my skills.
I'm very much inspired by the beauty and diversity of Australia. Many of my paintings focus on landscapes, surrealism, animals, and people. North Queensland is a particular favorite, and you'll see the influence of coral seas and mountain landscapes throughout my artwork. I have a post-impressionist style through which I try to capture the wonder of the world around us.
I specialize in pastel on card and acrylic on canvas, though I'm also experimenting with abstract and airbrush.
I've been fortunate enough to display my work in many art exhibitions and have been the recipient of many prizes and awards.
I offer Paint and Sip sessions along with Clay and Sip sessions, both at discounted rates for ClassBento Patrons. I believe in bringing these experiences to the customer at the very best competitive price possible, the real Australian Way. We have the largest range of paintings available with over 80 paintings on the gallery page of Wesley Taylor Art Studios, with the painting for each week found on the web page.
We hope you enjoy these sessions for a fun experience. The paintings are creative for maximum impact of colors, while keeping in mind first-time painting experiences. Those with a little more practice will create some amazing pieces.
Let us plan your special events!
“Everyone has an artistic flair and simply needs to be pointed in the right direction."
