Inspiration

Inspiration

All art starts with an idea, thought, or moment of inspiration. This linocut was inspired by a photograph your teacher took in Lysterfield Park of a stationary kangaroo with the last rays of daylight highlighting his silhouette.

Transfer

Transfer

Printing, tracing or drawing your image onto tracing paper using 2B or 4B pencil.

Once this is completed, you will be able to turn the tracing paper over, rub the tracing papers reverse side to transfer the carbon from the pencil to make an outline of your image on your carving block. There is multiple methods to transfer your image onto your carving block.

Carving

Carving

U or V shaped carving tools will be used to carve away your design. This is relief printmaking so what is carved away will be white and what remains will be the colour of ink which is applied.

Making your print

Making Your Print

Now for the fun bit, you will see your creation revealed.

Ink is applied using a roller and then paper on top of your block. We will be hand printing in the session.

In this engaging linocut print making class, you will discover the world of creating your own unique designs on paper. Learn the how-to of hand printing and take home your very own handcrafted masterpiece!
No need to feel overwhelmed; our welcoming workshop is perfect for beginners. You will become familiar with the process step by step, using high-quality materials to ensure your prints pop with creativity.
Throughout the class, you will feel a sense of accomplishment as you see your designs come to life. The joy of transforming a blank piece of paper into a work of art is truly rewarding. By the end of the class, you'll have a set of beautiful prints to cherish and show off at home.
