Private Painting Class: Paint Your Pet

If you’ve ever wanted to turn your favourite photo of your furry (or feathered!) friend into your very own painting, this class is for you!In this fun, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to create a colourful portrait of your pet to take home.Whether you’re painting your dog, cat, rabbit, bird, or another much-loved companion, I’ll guide you step-by-step through the process of turning your favourite photograph into a painting, even if you’ve never painted before!Before the class, you’ll send through a clear photo of your pet, and I’ll have your canvas prepared and ready for you when you arrive. That means you can skip the tricky drawing stage and spend your class focusing on the fun part, painting!What you will learn:

• How to simplify your pet into manageable shapes and forms
• How to mix colours to match your reference photograph
• Creating light, shadow, and dimension with acrylic paint
• How to paint fur using layers, colour, and directional brushstrokes
• Painting eyes, noses, and other important features
• How to capture your pet’s unique markings and personality
• Adding simple details and finishing touches to bring your portrait to life

Throughout the workshop, I’ll demonstrate each stage and be there to help you with colour mixing, brushwork, and all those little details that make your pet look like your pet!Never painted before?Perfect!You don’t need any previous drawing or painting experience to join this class. Your canvas will be prepared for you before you arrive, and we’ll work through your painting together step-by-step.The aim isn’t to create a perfectly photorealistic portrait; it’s to learn some new painting skills, have fun, and create something personal that you’ll be excited to take home.Before your class:Once you've booked, you'll be asked to send through a clear, well-lit photograph of the pet you would like to paint.For the best results, choose a photo where your pet’s face and features are clearly visible. Close-up portraits work particularly well!Your reference will then be used to prepare your canvas before the workshop, ready for you to start painting when you arrive.What’s included:

Prefer to paint at home?I can bring the class to you!If you’d prefer to paint from the comfort of your own home, I can travel to you and bring everything we need for the workshop, including your prepared canvas, paints, brushes, and painting materials.This can also be a lovely option if you’d like to organise a Paint Your Pet session with a friend, partner, or small group in your own space.Mobile classes are available within the surrounding Melbourne area for an additional travel fee, depending on your location.Bring along your favourite pet photo and spend a few hours creating a very special portrait of your best friend, and learning plenty of painting skills along the way!
