I didn’t start sewing the traditional way… I actually came back to it when I needed it most.
In 2019, I was faced with identity fraud — something that later became a feature on A Current Affair.
I needed something to ground me — something creative, something quiet, something that felt like I could rebuild a little piece of myself.
So I returned to sewing.
It was something familiar, something safe… and it gave me a way to focus, to create, and to slowly start putting things back together — both in my hands and in my life.
Instead of letting it set me back, I leaned even further into sewing and creativity, using it as a way to move forward and rebuild with purpose.
What started as a way to heal quickly turned into something much bigger. I became completely obsessed — not just with creating, but with the idea of rescuing fabric that would otherwise end up in landfill and giving it a second life.
That passion eventually led me to build what is now Queen of Fabric, where I’ve brought together 7 fabric businesses into one space — all focused on creativity, sustainability, and making sewing accessible to everyone.
