Make beautiful resin art homewares at this hands-on workshop in Underwood!

3.5 hours Class size 1 to 4

label $220 (or 4 payments of $55 Afterpay)

Discover how to make beautiful resin art plates, trinket bowls and decor items to display in your home or to give as gifts for family and friends with Mill Lane Studio.

In this 3.5 hour workshop, you'll work with a quick-curing polyurethane resin and a slow-curing epoxy resin to create colourful and practical items for your home.

What you'll learn:

  • Safety and preparation tips
  • An explanation of the different types of resins you'll be using
  • The differences between the resins
  • How to measure, mix, colour and pour
  • How to get marbling in resin; and
  • Finishing techniques for your plates and bowls.

Classes are restricted in size, so you receive individual instruction so you feel comfortable and confident during class, all while learning a new skill and creating some gorgeous food-safe pieces to use at home.

You'll cast three pieces including a trinket bowl, a votive holder and a 20cm plate made with food-safe epoxy resin. You'll learn how to create gorgeous marbled patterns. The polyurethane votive holder will be taken out of the mould and completed in class so you'll take this piece at the end of the class while the epoxy trinket bowl and plate take 24 hours to cure and will need to be collected after they cure.

When you return to collect your resin homewares, you'll have some lovely items to admire!

Please note: pieces poured with slow-curing resin take 24 hours to cure and will need to be collected after the workshop. If this is not convenient, arrangements can be made to post them to you.

Hi! I'm Myléne Hillam, resin expert, freelance designer for the craft industry and author of two jewellery making books.

My passion for resin can be traced back to my first year in high school and the manual arts department where I got to play - and fall in love - with plastics as an art medium. Sadly, resin wasn't part of the curriculum until the next year and I had to wait until 15 years ago when the opportunity to work with resin crossed my path again so I jumped right in, and I've been learning and creating with resin ever since.

Along the way, I've worked with major resin manufacturers in the US to produce their product videos, create educational materials for their clients and design numerous resin projects for their trade show booths. One of the fun things my expertise with resin has allowed me to do is to travel internationally to demonstrate resin products at trade shows.

My mission is to share what I know about resin with you. I deliver a quality and fun learning experience for beginners who want to have a go at working with resin. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve with the right guidance.

I love getting other people as excited about resin as I am. It's a truly addictive medium to play with and the possibilities of what you can do with it are endless.
