What Will Your Superhero Be Like?
- We’ll talk about who your favourite superheroes are and ask what makes a superhero a superhero?
- Then it’s your turn to think about who your superhero creation will be. What will they look like? What will their powers be? Are they inspired by someone close to you?
- This will become the foundation you begin with.
- You’ll be guided step by step throughout the stages that follow.
Create a Sketch That Begins to Transform Into Your New Creation
- Next you’ll be shown how to start sketching an outline of your superhero body.
- based on how you want your superhero to look, you’ll be guided how to draw their face, their costume, mask and cape (if they have one).
- this drawing will guide you as you copy it across to your canvas board.
The Painted Superhero
- This is where it all comes to life.
- You’ll draw the outline of your figure onto the board
- you’ll add colour using acrylic pens that will bring your painted superhero to life with rich colours and bold lines
- you’ll also add some sound effects. POW! WHAM!
- Then, your painting will be ready to take home!
The Mask
- to finish up you’ll be given a cut out of a mask that you’ll colour
- it will be your special mask that you’ll also decorate with some bling gemstones
- it can be used as your disguise if you plan to become your superhero’s assistant

My name is Angela Ndalianis and I’m a Melbourne-based artist who transitioned to art and painting after nearly 30 years as an academic, where I built a career as a professor of screen media and art history. My scholarly focus is on the sensory ways we connect with art, whether a painting by the artist Gauguin, a horror film by John Carpenter, a VR computer game, or a statue by Bernini.My work is driven by a passion to experiment with the role of colour, line, texture, and the decorative in art. I favour storytelling practices but also experiment with the sensory power of visual spectacle. I’m also drawn to creating a dialogue between paint and other media, including materials such as rhinestones, embroidery, and rich, textured fabrics.In the past four years, my paintings have been exhibited at Brunswick Street Gallery, Fly Little Bird, Red Gallery, and Linden New Art Gallery. I’ve exhibited my work at many group and themed shows, including more recently at Linden New Art and Gallery Unbound. In November 2024, I had my first solo exhibition at Red Gallery titled ‘Divine Darkness: A Female Odyssey’. This show stirred up much excitement and resulted in a second solo show, also at Red Gallery, titled ‘Supremacy of the Zombie Bunny’ in October-November 2025. In 2026, I’ve shown many of my paintings at exhibitions at Unbound Gallery, Linden New Art and the ‘Gods & Monsters’ exhibition at the ALTR Gallery in Minneapolis.
