Hi, I'm Shlomit, a professional wood carver and chainsaw carver from the Yarra Valley.

I've been working with wood since 2015 and usually create large projects for schools and councils using chainsaws and power tools.

I LOVE the peace of mind that whittling gives me – the quiet, dustless joy of seeing a piece of timber turn into an animal or a character in my hands – and I love to share my knowledge.

There's nothing better than seeing the satisfied smiles of students who have successfully created their own carving. I see whittling as a way to combine wood carving and active meditation, allowing us to be fully present in the moment.

My work is regularly exhibited in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show Sculpture Exhibition and won the Art Almanac subscription prize in 2022.
