1. Shape the Clay
Roll the clay out to a consistent thickness. This is where thickness guides on your rolling pin are very useful.
Measure and cut a strip of clay for your ring. The length will depend on your finger size, and you will need to account for shrinkage during the firing process.
2. Place the Gemstones
Gently press the heat-safe stone into the indentation. The clay's soft nature allows it to envelop the girdle of the stone. You can also use a syringe of wet clay to build a bezel or rim around the stone for extra security.
3. Dry and Fire
Let the clay dry completely, then fire it according to the manufacturer's instructions. About 45 mins
4. Polishing
Sanding the fired piece with fine-grit sandpaper to create a smooth surface.
Brushing with a stainless steel or brass brush and water to bring out the initial shine.
5. Admire in Everyone's Work
There's so much to admire in every silver clay ring, from the initial vision to the beautiful final piece. It truly shows the immense effort and passion that goes into creating something by hand. It's a wonderful feeling to see a piece you've worked on turn out so beautifully.
