There are just a few important things to note before you do:1 | Gemstone IdentificationYou must know exactly what your Gem is (e.g. CZ, opal, garnet, sapphire, etc). This helps us determine how it can be used in the process. This will help the risk of not damaging your Gem.2 | Cast-In-Place RequirementsIf you’d like your gem cast directly into your piece, it must be a hardness of 8 or higher on the Mohs scale. (Simply google your Gem asking what the Mohs scale is and it will tell you your number) There is also an $18 casting fee, this covers the additional cost we incur for casting with stones.3 | Gemstone Risk DisclaimerWhether you choose cast-in-place or claw setting, please understand there is always a small risk of damage during the casting or setting process. If you're bringing your own stones, they're accepted at your own risk. We always take great care, but it's still a risk when setting and casting in place.4 | Claw Setting OptionIf your gemstone needs to be set after casting (via claw setting), there is a $65 setting fee.5| Bead Setting OptionIf you want a more magical whimsical finish to your design and you have gems, I can do bead setting (engraving) for $39 add on.If you have any questions or are unsure if your gem is suitable, we’re always happy to help — just reach out.

At J-Line Designs, our Sip & Jewel workshops offer a distinctive jewellery-making experience that sets us apart from typical silversmith sessions. While many workshops guide participants to create similar plain ring bands, our sessions empower you to design 1-2 unique pieces—be it rings, pendants, or earring charms. You're free to explore any design, shape, or gem addition, ensuring your creation is truly one-of-a-kind. Although you won't take your jewellery home immediately, each piece undergoes professional casting and finishing, resulting in a personalized treasure. To enhance the experience, our workshops are BYO-friendly and include a grazing board, blending creativity with a relaxed social atmosphere.A key feature of our workshops is the use of the ancient lost-wax casting technique. This method allows for intricate and detailed designs, as your wax model is transformed into a metal masterpiece through a meticulous process. This technique not only ensures precision but also adds a touch of historical craftsmanship to your creation.
