Discover the art of bookbinding in Melbourne!

3 hours

Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 6 to 10
  $150 (Afterpay available)

Love journals and books? Discover the timeless art of bookbinding in this immersive three-hour workshop, designed for all skill levels. Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned crafter, this hands-on experience will guide you through the intricate process of creating your very own hard cover journal—a classic binding style known for its durability and elegance.
Soft spine bookbinding creates a flexible, softer spine that allows your journal to lie flat when opened. This technique results in a more relaxed feel, making it perfect for everyday use. The pages are carefully sewn into signatures and secured to the soft spine, ensuring both durability and flexibility for your handcrafted journal.
Led by Nicole, an experiend educator, you’ll learn key techniques, including:
  • Sewing pages into signatures
  • Assembling and gluing your book block
  • Adding decorative endpapers
  • Crafting and attaching sturdy hardcovers
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a meticulously handcrafted 64-page journal or sketchbook, made using beautifully printed papers. Whether you use it for journaling, sketching, or gifting, your unique creation will be a true reflection of your creativity and newfound skills.
Want us to host the workshop at your place? We’re fully mobile! We can bring the full bookbinding experience to you up to 200km for groups of minimum 6 people.
Unlock the joy of bookbinding—there’s nothing quite like holding a book you’ve made with your own hands.
