About Sozu

Sozu is a Melbourne studio dedicated to the art and culture of Chinese tea.

We believe tea is more than something to drink. It is a way of paying attention—to craftsmanship, to beauty, and to the present moment.

Through carefully sourced teas, thoughtfully selected teaware and small-group experiences, we invite people to discover Chinese tea beyond flavour. Every class combines hands-on Gongfu tea practice with stories of origin, craftsmanship and aesthetics, creating an experience that is both welcoming for beginners and meaningful for those wishing to deepen their appreciation.

Whether around a tea table or within a contemporary art gallery, our goal is simple: to create a calm space where people can slow down, observe, and experience Chinese tea with curiosity.

About the Host

I'm Jing, the founder of Sozu.

My background is in environmental engineering and research, but my work gradually led me toward a different question: how can beauty, craftsmanship and everyday rituals help us become more present?

That question became Sozu.

Today I source Chinese teas directly from producers, curate tea experiences, and share the traditions of Gongfu tea through workshops, tea gatherings and collaborations with cultural spaces in Melbourne.
