Hi, I am Joanna,
I am a Melbourne based professional artist, creative facilitator and the founder of The Quiet Studio.
I created The Quiet Studio for people who are longing for a little more space in their lives. Space to pause, breathe, create, reflect and reconnect with themselves.
I have learnt that creativity isn't really about making beautiful art. It's about making space to notice ourselves again.
What I love most about facilitating creative gatherings is watching guests surprise themselves. So many arrive believing they are "not creative" or that they need artistic talent to participate. Within a short time, they discover the joy of slowing down, letting go of perfection and simply enjoying the creative process.
My own creative journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Textile Design from Leeds University in the UK, followed by postgraduate studies in Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art in London. Over the past two decades, I have worked across the arts, wellbeing, community engagement and workshop facilitation, designing experiences that help people connect through creativity, meaningful conversation and shared experiences.
Alongside my work as a professional artist, my paintings have been exhibited and collected in Australia and internationally. I have had the privilege of facilitating workshops for hundreds of participants, from complete beginners to practising creatives, and I truly believe creativity belongs to everyone.
My workshops are intentionally small, calm and welcoming. There is no pressure to perform, no expectation to create a masterpiece and no artistic experience is needed. Instead, you will find a beautiful, nourishing space to slow down, explore your creativity and enjoy meaningful connection with other people.
Whether we are working with watercolour pencils, art journalling, collage or reflective creative practices, my hope is that you will leave feeling calmer, creatively inspired and gently reconnected with yourself.
I would love to welcome you to The Quiet Studio.
????
