Looking for fun things to do in Melbourne? Discover how to use your basic home sewing machine to create your very own thread-drawn artworks!
Your friendly teacher, Juliet, will carefully guide you through every step of this fun and creative technique through demonstrations, tuition, and practical support. Join a group of like-minded thread drawers in Juliet's art studio each week for a fun, inspiring, and relaxing evening.
Over the course of 4 weeks, you will learn everything you need to know to create your own beautiful textile artworks using freehand machine embroidery.
  • Learn all the basics, including how to prepare your machine to free sew, how to transfer your designs to fabric, drawing with the sewing machine, and how to add details & embellishments to your designs with threads and fabrics.
  • Once you have mastered the basics, Juliet will guide you as needed through each stage of the process of designing and completing your textile project.
There will be plenty of opportunity for practise, troubleshooting, skill-building, and experimentation. Plus, you will take home your embroidered textile artwork, as well as your newfound skills!

What you'll get
All textile materials required to the value of $50 RRP, use of basic sewing equipment, take home a completed textile project.
Knowledge required
No prior knowledge or skills required.
What to bring
Recommended to bring your own sewing machine; however, sewing machines are available for use. Please let Juliet know if you would like to borrow a machine.
Session repeats

This class series runs over 4 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea, team building activity, birthday or hens party.

Juliet was born in Scotland and studied Fine Art in Edinburgh. She has continued to create in sculpture, drawing and textiles and has been exhibiting her art in galleries across Melbourne since 2007. Juliet is passionate about passing on her artistic skills and knowledge to people of all ages and has been running creative art workshops for kids and adults for many years. She is particularly interested in inspiring artists of all ages to engage in their own unique creative journey.
