When my husband and I took ownership of Xocolatl in 2024, we were entrusted with much more than a chocolate business. We inherited a much-loved Melbourne brand, a talented team and a long tradition of creating beautiful chocolates by hand.
We renamed the business Torode Xocolatl and began an exciting new chapter—preserving the craftsmanship and character our customers already loved while introducing new products, experiences and opportunities for people to connect through chocolate.
At Torode Xocolatl, we work with premium Belgian couverture chocolate and believe there is something quite magical about seeing chocolate transformed. From tempering it traditionally on marble to creating a glossy chocolate block or tasting how different cacao percentages influence flavour, there is always something new to discover.
We created our chocolate experiences because we wanted to invite people behind the scenes and share more of the skill, patience and creativity involved in working with real couverture chocolate. Our classes are led by our skilled chocolate team and are designed to be welcoming, engaging and hands-on. You do not need any previous experience—just curiosity and a love of chocolate.
We love teaching because chocolate brings people together. It encourages conversation, creativity and a little bit of playfulness. There is also something wonderfully satisfying about watching someone master a new technique, create something they are proud of and leave carrying chocolates they made themselves.
As a family-owned Australian business, connection and community are very important to us. Whether you join us for an introductory tasting, a marble-tempering class, a celebration or a team experience, we want you to feel genuinely welcomed.
You will learn, taste, create and perhaps look at chocolate a little differently by the time you leave. Most importantly, you will enjoy a memorable experience and take home something delicious made with your own hands.
