Become part of a community

Become Part of a Community

Sharing our words and having inspiring conversations creates a rare intimacy. At the end of the 2 days we'll have formed our own little poetry community.

If, like me, you have been feeling a lot and would like a sanctuary to let go and be your weird, free, wild, creative self, and connect with others, this might be just the ticket!
Spend a weekend with myself and a glorious group of like-hearted humans creating poetry, laughing, work-shopping, having wildly stimulating conversations. We will listen deeply — to ourselves, each other, the world. And we will have fun!
Saturday 10am–4pm
We'll lay the foundations of poetic discovery and joy.
We'll get to know each other through fun games and guided conversations, then go deeper into what we love about poetry. What we know of poetry. How it makes us feel, and prepare to enter our own unique poetic voice!
Through quick-fire prompts and writing exercises designed to shake up our notions of what we think poetry is and get out of our usual 'tropes', we'll surprise ourselves, and each other, with fresh, shiny poetry GOLD.
Sunday 12pm–4pm
After our words have fermented overnight, we'll reenter the space on Sunday afternoon and see what's emerged. We'll pick up the threads, and go even deeper. We'll write more, talk more, and polish up some poetry gold. Then we'll see where our poetry wants to take us next...
What will we do?
Create amazing new poetry
I’ve found ways to tap into my poetic voice – to nurture it, feed it, and allow it the space to emerge.
  • I’ll share my process with you
  • Offer potent poetry prompts and guided exercises that will get you in touch with your expression and inspire your words to flow
  • Invite invigorating and nurturing group discussions
  • You’ll walk away with stunning new poetry, brimming with fresh ideas and a renewed confidence in and connection with your creative expression
Gain confidence performing our poetry and sharing our expression with others in a supportive space…
When we speak what we’ve written out loud, we connect even more deeply with the poetry, ourselves, and each other. It’s truly healing, cathartic, and empowering. It also allows the poetry to evolve and breathe. We will…
  • Share our work in a supportive and nurturing space
  • Explore our own unique presence within a group
  • Explore and play with our unique voice and use of language
  • Develop a fearlessness and dare to go where we have not gone before
  • Connect with each other's experiences and walk away with the profound sense of what our own unique voice has to offer
Become part of a community
When we come together to share our poetry and bounce off one another, not only does it ignite our creativity and generate work we never would have done on our own, it also gives us a sense of being part of something bigger. In this course, we’ll build our own little community. We’ll exchange ideas, inspire each other, discuss our blocks, our process, and have FUN!

Hi, I’m Amy, a multi award winning performer, spoken word artist, published poet and facilitator. I’ve been enchanting audiences for over 20 years with my uniquely real, whimsical, edgy, vulnerable and hilarious songs, spoken word and performance art.
I’ve been running workshops and courses for over a decade, connecting with thousands of people through the power of poetic language.
In a supportive, nurturing, inspiring space, I invite people to travel into the place poetry comes from, explore their creative voice and uncover the surprising wisdom, truth, wit and unique flair in their own words, then share these words with others. Through guided discussions, juicy prompts, creative exercises and playful exploration, I encourage people to take creative risks and go somewhere they haven't gone before.
You don't have to think of yourself as a “poet” to write poetry. In fact, I think there are a lot of notions about what a poet is that are completely unhelpful. I believe our very existence is poetry, and that anyone can access their own poetic voice when they feel free, supported and encouraged to let loose and see what emerges.
I can’t wait to see what you uncover!
A bit more about me : I've studied drama at Flinders University (majoring in what I like to call “the gutter and the stars”), performed in a travelling Shakespeare company, appeared on ABC’s Spicks and Specks and Please Like Me, performed at major festivals across Australia, headlined Melbourne’s top poetry events, been nominated for a Green Room Award, won the 2017 MSW Convenor’s Choice Award and the SA Young Women Writers’ Award. I've received multiple arts grants and critical acclaim for my one-woman shows.
