Monique Bayer is the soul behind Walk Melbourne. She loves food and she loves Melbourne. She’s happiest when she’s working at the intersection between food and storytelling – stories about the people who bring food and coffee to Melbourne, both then and now. Monique is the winner of the 2014 RACV Victorian Tourism Award for Youth Achievement.

With a big thank you to Kim our guide, we had a lovely evening in a group of eight, walking around Melbourne to 4 different restaurants, providing dumplings representing different provinces of China. Kim provided a lovely historic commentary of Melbourne history, which tied in nicely with the different restaurants we attended. Well worth an evening enjoying Melbourne’s lifestyle.

It was fabulous morning and quite interesting to hear from the Guide and the American guy. I have learnt a lot as this is not what I have expected although I am pleased
to learn a lot of things about coffee for the taste and beans and glad I came along to this Coffee Lover Walking tour. The Guide are awesome and impressed of her knowledge of Coffee. At first it would be good to know which was the best cafe but truly it is all about the taste & best coffee beans.

Had a wonderful time. It was better than I could have hoped for. The tour was personal filled not only with amazing coffee tasting but also history and knowledge and some of us were absolute coffee experts. I’d recommend this to anyone from beginner to expert coffee drinkers. I can’t wait to try the other tours.

It was wonderful to hear some of the history of the city, as well as the stories behind the places we visited. Our tour guide, Monique, was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions along the way and just made sure that everybody was enjoying themselves. Whilst the group size (10) was the max I would have been comfortable with, this tour was great and I highly recommend. A mix of enjoyable food tastings, some of which I knew of, but also some I had never come across before. Recommended for both locals and visitors alike.

Monique was so lovely. Knowledgeable about the city and the buildings and people. Very friendly and we had a great time. There was a loooot of food and drinks so don’t eat beforehand! We walked a few km but she went slow and we didn’t feel rushed.

Monique was lovely and I had a fabulous time. There was a cozy 8 of us in the group and we tried four different dumplings from four different restaurants. There was history about Melbourne’s beginnings and lots of info on dumplings and the parts of China each variety was from. Thoroughly recommend.

Thank you Melinda for taking us on an informative and inspiring gastronomic tour of the alleyways of Melbourne. Being a Melbournite, I still discovered new food places and interesting tidbits about the history of the laneways.

The food was quite a good selection - Bahn Mi, dumplings (excellent!), chocolate, macarons, coffee, gelato (yummy!) and a cocktail to end the tour.

Our guide was both friendly and knowledgeable and was able to give us a personalised and tailored experience. Thanks again!
