My name is Wendy Tonkin, I'm a qualified Leatherworker with around 8 years experience. I live in Williamstown and have just launched my first ever small business, teaching Leatherwork.
I love to see people to empower themselves and build confidence using knowledge by teaching in a fun, safe, supportive, and respectful manner, in a hands-on, fully tactile learning in community environments, working with the beautiful, natural medium of Leather.
I can provide everything required to run a class of 6 adults or children, I am willing to travel to interested creative, inquisitive parties: and am offering any of the following:
* One-off classes: Set length class learning the basic skills and creating a project to take home.
* Ongoing class: A set length class over several days, weeks or months to learn the skills to make a bigger project.
* Regular ongoing meet ups and classes; Ongoing classes held on a regular basis to learn new skills, make friends and work together on your own projects.
I have up-to-date Working with Childing accreditation, required insurance, and class safety is a number one priority- All classes begin with a safety overview, and tool rundown.
Costs are calculated depending on the type of project chosen ie, how much leather it requires and what kind of hardware we need to complete the job at hand; and obviously the kind of time it will take to finish the project ie, is it a half day or full day class, or maybe an ongoing class one day a week over 4 or 6 weeks.
I can run classes making such projects as Bags, journal covers, card holders, knife pouches, tool covers and pouches, wrist bands, heavy metal gear, passport covers, bottle covers, hair barrettes, guitar straps and belts among other things teaching saddle stitching, tooling and carving, edging, antiquing, leather braiding, template making, marbling, as well as safe tool use, and leather differences.
Please reach out if you would like to catch up for a chat, or for me to give you a call with any further information, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to have a read. Yours in crafting,
Wendy Tonkin
