You can add the internal details with wool or cotton thread. Stitch on a hair elastic, brooch back or create a stem.

Discover the joy of creating felted flowers in this welcoming wet felted poppy workshop. You will learn how to shape soft Corriedale and merino wool and transform it into delicate poppies to take home, making a beautiful keepsake or thoughtful gift. You may choose to add a stem, hair elastic or brooch back so that it can be enjoyed in various ways.
No experience is needed; you will be guided gently through each stage, from arranging fibres, agitating, shaping and stitching details. As a beginner, you’ll discover that the process is simple, playful and forgiving, with clear demonstrations and plenty of individual encouragement along the way.
You will work with wool, warm soapy water, bubble wrap and simple felting tools. As you roll, press and coax the fibres together, you may feel absorbed, calm and proud of your progress.
This hands-on activity offers more than a practical skill: it invites creativity, connection and renewed confidence in making. You’ll leave with handcrafted poppies, a lasting reminder of your creativity and newfound confidence.

I've always been drawn to the arts and the act of creating—it's been a constant thread throughout my life. Whether through painting, writing, design, or experimenting with new mediums, the creative process has always offered me a sense of purpose and joy. There's something deeply satisfying about learning a new skill, watching it take shape through practice, and seeing an idea come to life through my own hands. For me, creating isn’t just about the final product—it’s about the journey, the discovery, and the fulfillment that comes from turning imagination into something real.
As a Primary School teacher, I love watching my students learn and grow. It is important to me that I create a friendly, calm and welcoming environment so that all learners can achieve and enjoy the process of creating, no matter where they are on their learning journey, in a nurturing environment.
Working with wool, such wet and needle felting, ties us to history and the age old craft of creating with natural fibres. Whether it is a piece of art work, functional object or a piece to wear, working with wool is a beautiful medium that provides a calming and mindful process that allows our mind to wander while we stay focused on the creative experience.
