Wheel Throwing Course for Beginners and Intermediates

Join our experienced teachers in our wheel throwing course at Mayfield Pottery School. Embark on a journey of creativity and skill-building. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the art of wheel throwing or an experienced thrower wanting to enhance your techniques, our six-week course is perfect for you.

Four week intensive Mondays 7pm-9pm
Six week course Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 7pm-9pm

You'll delve into the basics of wheel throwing. You'll start by familiarizing yourself with clay and the step-by-step process of creating beautiful ceramic ware. Discover the techniques of centering clay on the wheel, learn how to throw cylinder and bowl forms, and master the art of turning and trimming the bases of your creations.
We'll also dive into the exciting realm of final decoration options, including underglaze and glazing, to add that personal touch to your work.

Please bring your own apron.

Joining Mayfield Pottery is not only an opportunity to learn a new skill, but it's also a chance to take some time out for yourself. The tactile nature of clay can be therapeutic, providing a sense of relaxation and calm.

At the end of the course, you'll have the satisfaction of taking home your own handmade ceramic pieces to use or display at home!

• Use of recycled clay, wheel, tools, firing, and basic materials for decorating and glazing.
• You are welcome to purchase more advanced clays as needed.

• Please bring along your own towel and apron.
• Come casual. It will be messy!
• Covered shoes are essential.
• BYO welcome. Our studio is a collaborative space where we often share a cup of tea, a glass of wine and a snack together to relax and enjoy winding down together at the end of the day.

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
