This three-day distillery course offers you the opportunity of a lifetime, giving you a chance to learn all about the essential equipment and processes required to open and operate a successful spirit distillation business.

Old Kempton Distillery is located in the 1840s mansion, Dysart House in the picturesque town of Kempton. It's full of history and amazing spirits. This course is ideal for you if you'd like to run your own distillery and need the know-how to get started!

Guided by distillery experts, you'll get a really close look at the entire process, learning about the coopering of barrels, brewing, distilling, barrelling, decanting, bottling and business. You'll also cover the use of water filtration, hot liquor heating, condenser and wash cooling systems, and the necessary cleaning regimes for all equipment.

Old Kempton Distillery is a small craft distillery and is not computerised, giving you a unique insight into the workings and mechanics of traditional distillation. Although whisky is the focus, gins, liqueurs and schnapps are also made on-site meaning that whatever you're interested in distilling, your teacher has the knowledge you need to begin your own distillery.

During your training you will assist in the customs approved method of measuring alcohol volumes, along with other important distillery tasks required by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

This course runs with a minimum of two and a maximum of eight people, keeping your learning as intimate as possible and allowing plenty of time for questions and discussion. You're welcome to take notes - there are no secrets at Old Kempton!

By the end of your course you'll have the knowledge you need to begin the process of setting up your own distillery and you'll be able to comfortably open and run your own business. It's time to become a distilling master!
