Alcohol Ink Workshop for Beginners

Learn how to create an alcohol inks masterpiece!

3 hours Class size 4 to 100 guests

$99 - $149 ($99 for General admission (over 12 years of age); $149 for Child under 12) (Afterpay available)

Have you ever wondered "what's all the stink about alcohol ink?" Well now's your chance to find out. Join us for this hands-on alcohol ink workshop and watch your artwork come alive on your canvas!
Unpredictable in nature, you will be mesmerised by the way the inks behave - or rather misbehave! Leave your ideas at home because this medium has a mind of its own!
This class is perfect for anyone who:
  • Is interested in learning more about alcohol inks and how to use them
  • Is interested in an art class that is more about the process than the product
  • Wants to make amazing artworks that they can display in their homes, offices or the homes of their friends and family
  • Wants to learn basic composition tricks relevant to alcohol inks
  • May have already tried to use alcohol inks but aren't getting the results they want
  • Wants to create abstract artworks that they can be proud of!
You'll learn how to:
  • Use isopropyl alcohol to blend colours
  • Use a heat gun to create wispy lines
  • Use metallic inks to get golden flakes and shimmers throughout your work
All materials are supplied but if you have some inks/surfaces at home that you wish to get some guidance on, you are more than welcome to bring them along.
Please note:
Please note that while children are welcome to attend, the medium is very odorous and parental discretion should be used in deciding if this class is right for your child. In addition, there is an additional fee for children under the age of 12 since they use significantly more materials than older people.
What you'll get
  • A series of completed alcohol ink artworks and experiments.
  • The isopropyl alcohol used in this workshop omits a strong odour so masks are provided if you should wish to wear one. In addition, the inks are likely to stain your skin and clothing should they come into contact with it.
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits are supplied but feel free to bring morning tea if you would prefer something more substantial.

  • 5/5 from Kirsty Mikhail, attended Jun 2023: Had a fantastic time doing this class. The set up and materials were substantial and our teacher was very encouraging, helpful and lovely. It was great value for money and very inspiring thank you so much for a great day! Highly recommended.
  • 5/5 from Sonja Ractivand, attended Jun 2023: Had a great afternoon, the workshop was very informative & loads of fun. Learnt lots of techniques, used different mediums and very generous amount of supplies. Aliysha was positive, happy to impart knowledge & clearly loved art. She encouraged us & gave positive feedback. We all left feeling happy at what we'd created and what we'd learnt. Thanks Aliysha for a really great afternoon.
  • 5/5 from Sue-Ann Martiniello, attended Apr 2023: Fantastic relaxed workshop with all materials included and the opportunity to be as creative as you liked. Alysshia was knowledgeable and encouraging. Really enjoyed the workshop.
  • 5/5 from Genevieve Langron, attended Apr 2023: Absolutely awesome class - Aleisha was lovely, encouraging, no-fuss and kept the whole morning fun. We came away with a whole range of things we were proud of including a large canvas, 4 tile coasters and a bunch of cardboard designs (some of which I'm looking forward to framing or using as greeting cards). We had permission to test things out, make mistakes, and just try again, so there was zero pressure for every creation to be wonderful. I went along with a friend and we can't wait to come back again soon - would recommend this to anyone. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Bronwen Scott, attended Apr 2023: What a fabulous day. I loved the way the teacher would demonstrate a couple of techniques and then give you time to experiment before moving on to the next couple of ideas. I didn't feel rushed or forced to 'toe the line' in the lesson, there was time to explore your own ideas and learn about the medium. The teacher also has a great range of colours to work with. I have been to workshops before where the choices are quite limited. That was not the case here.
  • 5/5 from Kerry Niven, attended Nov 2022: This was a fun, informative class! We started working on paper, then worked up to tiles and canvases.
  • 5/5 from Cherine Kokic, attended Nov 2022: This was a really fun class. Everything was great - venue, supplies, teacher, lessons etc. Many thanks for a wonderful afternoon.
  • 5/5 from Irene Grech, attended Nov 2022: Absolutely loved the alcohol ink class. Alishya was great showing us many different techniques. Feel confident to give this a go at home. Definitely recommend ARTilicious.
  • 5/5 from Jane Hunt, attended Nov 2022: Lovely teacher, very encouraging, class at a good pace. Was great to go home with some completed art works. Would recommend to other beginners.
  • 5/5 from Penny Lewis, attended Sep 2022: Alysha is such an awesome teacher. She’s knowledgeable and has such a kind and encouraging manner. She is welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for her. She has buckets of patience and her techniques are explained using demonstrations and language that is easy to understand. She has a great sense of humour and the chatting that we did whilst creating was really relatable and just easy and thoroughly enjoyable. The studio is really well set up. Inspiring pieces are on display which helps to get the creative juices flowing. Alysha is generous in her provision of equipment. She explains how to use the inks/paints etc to get maximum use economically. She knows her products really well and shares her knowledge freely with her students. We were welcome to make a tea or coffee and biscuits were provided… I loved that Alysha created art work along side of us. She wasn’t just walking around “watching” us as we created… I think that created a sense of freedom and relaxation. The whole 3hours was relaxing, but exciting, all those amazing vibrant coloured inks at our finger tips… I had the best time, the process using alcohol inks was really exciting and I created some beautiful paintings… I bought a kit because I’m so taken with this kind of painting… thanks Alysha for your kindness and willingness to share your passion for art. Penny

Demonstrations followed buy practise was a great strategy used to familiarise participants with products. The opportunity to then apply the techniques into an artwork that could be taken home was rewarding. Thank you Alishya for the fun experience, you are an excellent art teacher I will return to learn a different technique! Thanks Anita
