My art journey started back in India with a single bottle. I didn't have a canvas, so I painted an old glass bottle with evil eye motifs. Someone at a local market bought it for $15 and told me, "You should teach this." That was my pivotal moment — I realised art isn't about expensive materials, it's about transforming what you have. From bottles, I moved to textured waves using palette knives, then to the piece everyone now asks me for — my green crystal geode mirrors. I brought that passion with me to Perth, and for the last 2 years while working in customer service at IGA, I've been creating after hours for our local community.
Why I love teaching:
I taught art for over 5 years in India — from 6-year-old kids to 60-year-olds — and I've taught over 300 students. What I love is that moment when someone says "I can't paint" and then 90 minutes later they're holding something they are PROUD of. My classes are not about perfect art. They are about that holiday feeling — you forget your worries, you play with colours and crystals, and you leave feeling refreshed. IGA taught me how to talk to everyone with kindness and patience, and I bring that same care to my art classes.
Something special you don't know:
Most people don't know that my geode mirrors are made with real crushed glass and crystals, not just paint. Each one takes 2 days to cure and catches light differently throughout the day — that's why people hang them in their entryway. And my evil eye bottles? I paint each eye freehand, no stencil, so every bottle has a different protection story. I also specialise in texture art with thick paste — you can actually FEEL the wave.
