Barista Workshop: Fast Track Your Coffee Skills

Want to get a head start in the coffee industry? Our fast track barista class in Perth is an intensive full-day workshop that will set you up with the skills, knowledge and training so you walk out the door ready to work in the industry.

This workshop covers all the same introductory fundamentals from our Coffee Fundamentals Barista Class as well as further expanding on the techniques and skills required to become a competent barista.

There are only six spots available in each class to ensure you receive adequate time on our commercial coffee machines, as well as feedback and guidance from our dedicated trainer.

This workshop is our hero barista course and is an incredibly entertaining and rewarding day as you are fully emerged into the wonderful world of coffee. You will not only leave with a new skill set but also an appreciation for the industry and a greater understanding of coffee.

Class overview:

Part one (9am – 12pm)

• The rich history of coffee – from growing to harvesting.
• An introduction to the artisan skill of coffee roasting.
• Dosing and tamping to create the perfect espresso extraction (and tasting of course!).
• The art of milk texturing – exploring the different levels of microfoam required for different café drinks.
• Demonstration of a complete café coffee menu.

Lunch (12:00pm – 12:30pm)
Food can be purchased from Jessies Café, or alternatively, there are several food providers all within walking distance. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks/lunch to eat throughout the day.

Part two (12:30pm – 4pm)

• Grinder adjustment.
• Barista workflow and tips and tricks required to work in a busy café environment.
• Exploring different non-dairy milk alternatives that are currently served in the industry.
• Practice making various drinks from the café menu.
• Speed test: put your newfound barista skills to the test!
• Machine maintenance.

No prior knowledge or skills are required – beginners are encouraged so we can teach them the correct skills and techniques from word go! This is also a great refresher class if you are wanting to get back in the industry.
 

• A detailed workbook to take home.
• A certificate of completion after the class.
• A light morning tea.

• You do not need to bring anything along to the workshop, we provide a workbook and pens if you would like to take any additional notes.
• Please wear enclosed shoes (our coffee is hot and your feet are important!)
• You will get a light morning tea and if you have any dietary requirements you are welcome to BYO snacks.
