Class size 1 to 6 (public classes), 4 to 8
  $55 (Afterpay available)

Make your own pair of beaded earrings from start to finish using Miyuki glass seed beads!
This is a three hour workshop in which you will be beading non-stop! Learn the basics of bead weaving with no experience necessary.
Be prepared to make mistakes! This is a small group workshop only to ensure that enough help is available. You will also get your own set of instructions to use during the workshop to assist you along the way. Get creative and walk away feeling accomplished.
By the end of the class, you will have a pair of earrings to take home or wear, as well as a little more patience than before.
What you'll get
You will walk away with your own pair of seed bead earrings, designed and made entirely by you! You will also have gained a new skill and are welcome to keep the instructions should you wish to keep beading. In the case that you do not finish (rare) you can take all the materials necessary to finish your earrings at home.
Knowledge required
Suitable for beginners, with good eyesight and motor skills. Recommended for ages 13+.

I am Alana (she/her), a visual artist, jewelry-maker, and art therapist based in Gimuy/Cairns.
I began my career in Fine Arts. After graduating with a BFA, I slowly built a contemporary art practice making ephemeral art installations and fine detailed drawings. Later I spent a year living in Oaxaca, Mexico where I learnt a tonne of new cratfs; this also spurred a deep passion for traditional arts and crafts as well as an inquiry into the benefits and importance of making things by hand. Later I completed a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice and have since been combining all of my interests and skills into unique workshop offerings!
The world needs more creativity and play – this is at the heart of joy, innovation, beauty, and healing! Creativity can help us out of our personal and collective dilemmas:
"How do you respond to a dysfunctional world? Create. Create something new. Anything. Especially what starts a fire in your heart. Thats the energy these times crave." - Xavier Dagba
Creating together is truly powerful - learning, experimenting, and making mistakes together make group class experiences fun, supportive and memorable.
I have taught in Festival settings, women's retreats and schools. Seeing the incredibly diverse and unique ways people express themselves creatively is my favourite part of teaching and is truly inspirational (despite what you may think about the "quality" of your work!).
