What you'll do
Learn the basics of screen printing at this 2-2.5 hour workshop in Melbourne. Print your own one-colour design onto fabric (t-shirt, tote or tea towel) and walk away with your own unique design.
Led by our experienced artist and educator team, Matt and Sarah, at Troppo Print Studio, Melbourne's only Screenprint specific open access space, this workshop is perfect for beginners.
Don't worry if you've never tried screen printing before, this class is designed to alleviate any fears and provide you with a good grasp of the technique. You'll learn the technical aspects of screen printing while having fun and expressing your creativity.
Prior to the workshop date, simply email your artwork to Troppo Print Studio 2-3 days in advance, and they will prepare it for your arrival. This way, you can focus on the hands-on experience of creating your own design.

Knowledge required
This workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to try the medium. You will need to send a single-colour A4 max size artwork by email to Troppo, 3 days prior to the workshop.
What you'll get
- Film positive
- Your choice of a canvas tote bag, cotton t-shirt, or fabric pieces to take home.
- Practise fabric.
- Access to ink and tools for printing.
- Additional totes available for $6 each, linen tea towel $10 each, white t-shirt $12.
What to bring
- Wear closed-toe shoes and suitable clothing for printing in. We do provide aprons, but sometimes a blob of ink goes astray.
- Pen and paper.
- Additional fabric you would like to try printing on.
- If there is a specific colour you would like to work with, bring it.
Suitable for
This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a birthday or hens party.
Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).
Adult accompaniment is not required.
