Looking for a creative, inspiring yet calming experience in Melbourne? Look no further than our beginners friendly wheel throwing class in Pascoe Vale South!
Led by friendly and experienced ceramicists, this immersive session teaches traditional wheel throwing techniques in a relaxed, completely pressure-free and fun-focused session. Learn to centre, shape, and transform clay on the wheel into beautiful pieces made by you to take home or gift to loved ones.
Our small class sizes ensure personalised attention, allowing you to freely explore the nature of clay while being gently guided by our talented ceramicists.
You will have your own pottery wheel and can make up to two pieces (with as many attempts as you like), with any extras charged at $10 each. We will glaze and kiln-fire your pieces, ready to be picked up in approximately three weeks (unless you'd like to add on a discounted glazing workshop to paint and decorate your pieces yourself) or posted to you with a small fee. Process times may vary depending on kiln firings, weather and busy periods.
Good to know
Please note that clay is prone to shrinking by 10% in the kiln, and that occasionally pots do explode/crack in the kiln. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for pots that have exploded or cracked in the kiln firing process, as this is beyond our control.
If you are requesting a private class, please note these incur a $30 per person fee.
We offer events such as birthday parties and team-building workshops for up to 30 students; we can also come to your own venue. Please get in touch :)
Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case, we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day before the class.

I was surprise at how much we were able to produce in 2 hours as beginners, it’s encouraging to see progress so quickly and everyone went home having made several pieces. Tig was fun and to the point, giving us as much time as possible to practice and was there as soon as it got wobbly. Cheers Tig!

  • 5/5 from Maggie Scott, attended Sep 2026: Bella did an amazing job faclitating our small group of kids with ages ranging from 8 to 12. She emphasised a 'let's play with clay' approach and they all really enjoyed it, were calm and focussed and made some beautiful pieces! Thanks Bella and Sunroom studio.
  • 5/5 from Rachit Lal, attended Sep 2026: Very fun experience, Georgia was a great guide. Relaxed intimate atmosphere. Walked away with a mildly disfigured bowl and a mug and some good memories.
  • 5/5 from Milo Milton-Moon, attended Sep 2026: My partner and I had a lovely date night at sun room studios doing our first pottery class. We were given gift vouchers and it was very easy to book the class. There were 8 people in our class. Georgia created such a nice atmosphere! It was well planned, with a great balance of listening to instructions, watching demonstrations, following along, getting one on one support as needed and getting enough time to play around and experiment on our own. Georgia made it a very relaxing and fun environment to learn in. I loved that we got a chance to do so many pieces; 4 or 5 if you were fast! The only thing that would have been helpful was seeing more of a variety of examples of things we could make or get inspo from at the start. I only had a proper chance to look around the studio at the things that had been made at the end of the class.

Bella, along with the rest of the team, brought positive energy and made it a really fun experience. Thank you - we can’t wait to attend another class!

  • 5/5 from Stephanie Tetlow, attended Aug 2026: Really fun class, the teacher was friendly and knowledgeable, we were able to make a bunch of pieces and work independently or with help if wanted and at our own pace!
  • 5/5 from Cate Sweeney, attended Aug 2026: Class was excellent, teacher was super lovely and very helpful. Took time explaining everything and didn’t feel rushed. We got multiple demos and then got to practice ourselves, and we had enough time to make 3 pieces each. Amazing vibe and very welcoming, will definitely be going back.

  • 5/5 from Bridget Naidoo, attended Aug 2026: Our teacher was amazing, she showed and explained how to use the pottery wheel so simply for us beginners who have never done pottery before. We were able to make bowls, plates and vases in our session. This experience was also super easy to book!
  • 5/5 from Scarlett Gunn, attended Aug 2026: Our teacher was so lovely and we had a wonderful time! Love that it was such a small and intimate experience with my partner.
  • 5/5 from Zain Ali, attended Aug 2026: The class was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Had a fun time with an excellent teacher.
  • 5/5 from Flora Karanikos, attended Aug 2026: My son and I had a great time. Who knew pottery on a wheel could be so much fun. Georgia our teacher was really amazing. She clearly understands her craft. But also teaches well and helps students along the way. As complete beginners, we managed to create a couple of what may be bowls at the end. No expectations. Yes we get that things may go wrong in the process…. It’s clay after all. ‍️. However, I look forward to seeing the end products after glazing in a couple of weeks should they survive. Side note: the snacks we ordered were lovely… didnt expect the cheese board. Thx Georgia for a great night!!
  • 5/5 from Candace Milton, attended Aug 2026: Fun class. Relaxed and easy going.
  • 5/5 from Iliana Casas, attended Aug 2026: We really enjoyed the class, the teacher was great. She explained all the steps very clearly and made suggestions when she saw us struggling. We had lots of fun, we will definitely be back.
  • 5/5 from Mark Thompson, attended Aug 2026: Great fun!. Learned how to throw and manipulate the clay. Perefct size group. Would do it agin.
  • 5/5 from Tayla Fitzgerald, attended Aug 2026: My 2 friends and I joined the beginners workshop and had so much fun!! It ran so smoothly, lots of laughs and we had the best teacher, Sophie!! Would definitely do it again :)
  • 4/5 from Danielle McAllion, attended Aug 2026: We enjoyed learning something new and having something to show for it at the end (or will when they're glazed for us!). The teacher ensured we were all happy with the pieces we made and would help whenever needed. This is a small place where people are doing there own thing too. It's not specifically set up for teaching classes like many of the other ClassBento experiences. It was a fun thing to do, but it's not a polished experience - go in with that expectation and you'll love it! Also, don't order the food - there's no way you could eat and do this so not sure why it's offered as an add on!
