  • 5/5 from Heather Mitchell, attended Oct 2026: The instructor was generally very detailed in his explanations and very patient. The safety instructions were clear and a leather apron, glove and safety glasses were provided. I was introduced to several different techniques. Starting with a straight pices of square metal rod, I first beat one end into a taper then flattened and curled the other end. Next I twisted the middle and finally bent the whole thing into an S shape. I really enjoyed myself. I am a woman in my 70's and though I had to use a smaller hammer, I did not find it too physically demanding.
  • 5/5 from Ian Littlehales, attended Sep 2026: Ron was an excellent teacher and the small class of 4 people was the perfect way to get a basic introduction to this skill. One that at age 77 I'm unlikely to master but it was fun to have a go at it. And Ron, don't forget to Google WTC7, it may pique your interest.

  • 5/5 from Caelan Mitchell, attended May 2026: The blacksmithing class with Ron was absolutely fantastic. Me and my partner were guided through how to blacksmith a decorative S hook from a straight bar of steel. It was so satisfying to see the steps, perform them, and use a bit of elbow-grease to smash the hammer down and mould it into form. I would definitely do another blacksmithing class with Ron! He was exceptionally grounded, calm, and humorous — everything you want in a blacksmithing guide.
