Have you ever wanted to learn the art of bonsai? Well, this class is perfect for you!
Bonsai is a traditional Japanese practice of growing miniature trees in containers, offering a calming way to reconnect with nature while creating something beautiful by hand.
This hands-on workshop is designed for beginners, guiding you through the process in a relaxed and welcoming environment where you can slow down and enjoy the experience.
The word bonsai translates to ‘plant in a tray, ’ and involves carefully managing a tree’s growth through techniques like pruning roots and branches, and cultivating it within a compact container.
Beginning bonsai is about more than just shaping a tree, it’s about imagining its future form. Over time, bonsai can become deeply meaningful, often passed down through generations as living works of art that represent patience, care, and balance.
In this class, you will put together your very own bonsai tree.
What you’ll learn:
  • An introduction to the art of Bonsai
  • What types of plants can be used for Bonsai
  • How to select a pot size for repotting
  • Preparing your pot for planting
  • Root trimming and repotting your plant
  • Pruning and wiring to shape your bonsai
  • Care and maintenance advice
At the end, you will take home your bonsai tree planted in a container, as well as the confidence to continue caring for the plant in years to come!
What you'll get
  • A planted bonsai (species of plants vary based upon seasonality and availability)
  • The tools and knowledge on how to develop your own bonsai
  • Scissors, wire, potting mix and tools are available for students to use during the class
