In this hands-on bookbinding class, you'll learn the intricate, timeless craft of Coptic binding, making your own 64-page hardcover journal or sketchbook.
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll explore the traditional technique of Coptic stitching to create a decorative but strong spine that has the wonderfully practical bonus of laying very flat when opened, making this a perfect journal or drawing book. For your book, you will choose from a beautiful range of coloured bookcloth and an exciting and diverse range of stunning decorative endpapers.
Whether you're completely new to bookbinding or looking to refine your skills, this workshop is designed to support and inspire you every step of the way.
Led by artist and educator Nicole Wassell, who brings many years of experience working with people of all ages and abilities, this immersive session is the perfect introduction to the world of bookmaking.
You'll Learn How To:
  • Create and attach a strong, stylish hardcover
  • Add beautiful decorative endpapers
  • Utilise a range of beautiful decorative stitches to sew your pages (signatures) into your covers
By the end of the class, you’ll have crafted a truly personal 64-page journal or sketchbook using a curated selection of quality papers—and will have the skills to continue making more on your own!
