Learn the ancient skill of boomerang throwing in this interactive workshop guided by First Nations knowledge holders. The boomerang is more than a famous Australian icon—it carries deep cultural significance and has been used for thousands of years for hunting, ceremony, and storytelling.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you’ll discover the history and traditions behind different types of boomerangs and their uses. You’ll also be shown the correct techniques for safe and successful throwing, then begin practising your own throw.
This workshop welcomes all skill levels and is a fun, active way to connect with culture and Country. By the end of the session, you’ll have a new appreciation for the artistry, physics, and meaning behind this timeless tool.
You will:
  • Hear stories and cultural insights from First Nation guides about the origins and uses of the boomerang.
  • Learn the safe and correct throwing technique.
  • Enjoy hands-on practice in a relaxed outdoor setting.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the boomerang’s role in Aboriginal culture.
