Bush Botanical Smoke Stick Workshop for School Kids

Fun, hands-on education for school kids! Run by a First Nations woman.

5+ years & Adults     1 hour Class size 5 to 30 guests

$260 - $890 ($260 for Single session; $480 for 2 sessions; $680 for 3 sessions (half day); $890 for 4-5 sessions (full day)) (PayPal Pay in 4 available)

In this hands-on workshop, students create a smoke stick (or two, depending on time constraints) using dried, natural plant materials while learning interesting facts about these plants and working thoughtfully with natural resources.
The activity supports creativity, fine motor skills, focus, and following instructions, and is delivered in a calm, structured, and age-appropriate way. Content and techniques are adjusted to suit different year levels and learning needs.
Smoke sticks are not lit during the session; instead, students receive guidance on safety, care, and responsible use at home with adult supervision.
The workshop also includes an age-appropriate acknowledgement that smoke has held cultural significance for Aboriginal peoples over a long period of time. Students learn that traditional smoking practices are cultural, specific, and are not replicated in this workshop.
This discussion is light education presented respectfully and factually, with hopefully a bit of fun conversation. This workshop also links to The Arts, Science, Health & Wellbeing, so ticks several boxes for teachers! Education with a fun, practical element.
Please note: We can provide multiple sessions (one group/class per session) for students on the same day at the same school. Please tick the corresponding box as to how many sessions you would like on the day. Thank you!

My work is grounded in a deep love of flowers, plants and creating things by hand. Under my business, From Dirt & Rain, I began by running Wreath Making Workshops, which naturally grew into Terrarium Making, Air Dry Clay Workshops and Pressed Flower Framing. Over time, this has expanded to include Sewing workshops, Bush Botanical Smoke Sticks Workshops and playful, relaxed Pamper Parties for children.
Alongside years of hands-on creative making, I bring a professional background as a qualified Beauty Therapist, which informs my gentle, thoughtful approach to self-care–based experiences. I’m also a First Nations woman, and my connection to land, plants and natural materials quietly shapes the way I approach both my workshops and the pieces I make.
In addition to workshops, I create and sell handmade items that reflect the same values of care, creativity and connection to nature.
Each workshop is designed to be warm, welcoming and accessible. A chance to slow down, learn something new and enjoy the process of making!
