Q: Is there a silver option?
Yes! We have sterling silver/stainless steel finding options.
Q: Will these pieces be waterproof?
Your huggies will be waterproof. The findings are waterproof for you chokers but because some of the pearls are recycled we'd recommend taking your necklace off to shower etc. The occassional brush with water will be absolutely fine, but this is more of a take it off to shower/sleep/exercise piece.
Q: What's the cancellation policy?
A: No cancellations, but free to reschedule up until 5 days before the class

What you'll do
Summer may have ended, but word on the street is that pearls are here to stay. Be they classic strands or baroque asymmetrical dangles, pearls are the ultimate way to level up your summer wardrobe. And what better way to acquire them than by making them yourself?!During this workshop you'll make:
- A pearl choker necklace (from mostly Op Shopped pearls!!)
- A pair of freshwater pearl huggies (gold-plated stainless steel or stainless steel findings)
What you'll get
One beaded pearl choker (mostly op-shopped beads!) and one pair of freshwater pearl huggies. Snacks and alcohol free drinks also included.

We couldn’t have asked for a warmer, patient and wonderful teacher as Rachel and are tremendously grateful for her. An instructor really makes our breaks an experience like this and sets the tone for the rest of the day so we’re incredibly thankful. Rachel set up 45 mins early with all the tools, parts and variety of pearl beads of different sizes and unique shapes (fresh water). Each of us walked away with a bespoke necklace or bracelet and freshwater pearl earrings that are made by us, suiting our own personality and style. Whenever we wear them now we will remember this special day!
Your teacher
Fencesitter was founded (by accident) in 2018, when Heather McNab decided to try her hand at replicating the Picasso-style face earrings she was seeing at every chain store in Adelaide. Armed with pliers and Bunnings fencing wire, she developed her own craft and style and started selling bespoke wire earrings at local markets. This hobby grew and, post-covid, graduated to teaching. Heather has taught thousands of budding jewellery makers over the years, making finished products ranging from technical wire pieces to charm necklaces and bracelets. Our workshops vary in difficulty, but even our most challenging workshops are aimed at beginners. A reformed perfectionist (in progress), Heather understands how intimidating trying a new skill can be and is well-versed in helping students get over mental hurdles.Fencesitter has crafted custom pieces for State Opera of South Australia and Monarto Zoo, and was lucky enough to feature in the Shameless Gift Guide in 2020.
