Join me Tuesday evenings for a supportive and sustainability-minded mending workshop that encourages creativity, while helping you refresh and extend the life of your clothes!
Instead of throwing away or building a pile of clothes that need fixing, learn the skills yourself! It's a great sense of accomplishment, allows us to maintain quality clothing, and helps you save money.
This term 3 we will learn different mending techniques each week, essential for general repairs that you can do yourself!
  • different hand sewing stitches
  • using iron-on patches
  • fixing buttons
  • decorative mending
  • darning jumpers and socks
  • simple hemming
Under the guidance of teaching sewist and maker Lucy Ho, participants will learn the process of mending, gaining new skills that can be applied to your own wardrobe at home! The goal is to learn useful skills in a relaxed environment, a finished product is not guaranteed.

Hi there! I started my small business Lucy macht in July 2024 to scratch that creative itch I wasn't getting from secondary teaching. I've been a sewer since learning in high school, worked at a fabric store for several years, self-taught to extend my skills and love all things handmade! My passion for colour, dogs and sparking joy in the little things is what drives me everyday!
With 6 years of experience teaching languages; English as an additional language to new refugees, to German from Year 7 - 12, I love helping and witnessing people learn a new skill and confidence in something they've never tried before. I've been told I'm incredibly patient, calm and personable; perfect ingredients for a cosy vibe right? I would love to teach fresh beginners to intermediates who are looking to learn a new technique.
Something I love about sewing; YOU GET TO MAKE THINGS EXIST. "I wish it had...XYZ" Nekminnit, I've made something for that. "Urgh it doesn't have any pockets"..."not anymore it doesn't!"
After a workshop (or two!) I hope you guys can walk away with a new found appreciation of how things are made, especially in today's fast-fashion world, whilst also unlocking all the possibilities sewing gives you!
