Led by Italian chef and founder of The Sourdough Science Academy, Roberto Giammellucca, this hands-on session is designed to help you understand the basics of sourdough fermentation, its health benefits, and how to care for your starter using a simple method that doesn’t require daily feeding.

What to bring
  • One clean jar with a lid (approx. 300–400ml capacity) for your sourdough starter (don’t worry if you forget—starter jars will be available for purchase on the day)
  • A pen and notepad (optional, for taking notes)
  • A curious mind and readiness to learn!

No, this class focuses on the first step of the sourdough process—creating your starter. We’ll cover everything you need to know about fermentation, caring for your starter, and getting ready to bake at home.
Is this class hands-on or just a demonstration?
It’s a mix! You’ll be guided step-by-step in making your own sourdough starter during the session, but we won’t be baking bread. There will also be theory and Q&A time.
I’ve already done your full workshop—should I still come?
If you've already completed the full workshop, you likely don’t need this class. But we’d love if you could share it with family and friends who might benefit from a more accessible starting point.
