Learn how to navigate the pottery wheel in this wheel-throwing Melbourne workshop!
This workshop is perfect for beginner who want to learn solid foundation skill but also wants to take something pretty home! It starts with a demonstration of how to wedge and prepare clay for the pottery wheel. You will then move onto learning the techniques required to form a cylinder, which is the base shape used in the formation of wheel-thrown ceramics.
The processes that you will learn include
  • Centring the clay
  • Lifting the walls of the pot
  • Shaping the pot
  • Cutting the pot off the wheel
You will finish the class with 4-5 items that are ready to be dried, bisque fired and glazed by us in our house glazes (colours chosen by you). The items can be collected two-four weeks after the class. This can include a one kg piece that you will get help with from your tutor (something more sizeable to take home).
What you'll get
Clay, glazes and firing for 4-5 finished wheel-thrown pots, to be collected two- four weeks after the class.
