Introduction to Stained Glass Workshop

Learn to create a stained glass artwork using the copper foil method!

3.5 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests

  $160 (Afterpay available)

Looking for something a little different to do on a Friday night? Join us from 6-9pm for a stained glass art workshop using the copper foil method with glass artist and community arts facilitator, Fiona Caskie (AKA My Imaginary Heart).
The copper foil method makes for a gentle introduction to glass art and allows you to explore a variety of shapes and colours using delicate pieces to make smaller-scale stained glass artworks like light catchers and wall hangings.
This workshop is limited to a small group for individualised attention and focused learning. Patterns are provided, and you will create a finished piece that you can take home to enjoy.
Designed for complete beginners (advanced learners and refreshers welcome), you will learn how to:
  • Cut glass using three different tools
  • Grind and shape glass to a pattern
  • Apply copper foil to glass
  • Construct your project using soldering tools
  • Use finishing techniques to polish and display your item
Note: Small items can be completed in one session, but you will usually need to book at least two workshops to complete one full project. These do not have to be booked concurrently.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
What you'll get
  • Tuition in copper foiling.
  • Materials, use of equipment, and protective equipment are provided.
  • You will complete a small piece to take home.
Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly, with no previous experience required.
What to bring
Just yourself! Please wear closed-toed shoes or boots, long sleeves, and full-length pants.
