Comedy is one of the least understood writing tools. Many think it's an innate ability, when in reality it can be learned. Whether it’s a press conference, an editorial, a debate, a novel, stand-up, or any literary medium, humour is an effective tool to elevate your work. AI is incapable of emulating it, as it's a fundamentally emotional experience that needs laughter to validate it.
In this three-hour workshop, the students will learn:
  • A wide range of joke writing formulas
  • A systematic approach to writing comedy about any topic
  • How to write in different comedic voices
  • How to integrate humour into relevant writing assignments
  • How comedy can be used to communicate ideas effectively
What previous students say:
“Simon Taylor is not just extraordinarily funny, he is truly generous. He provided exceptional feedback on each homework assignment. The course exceeded my highest expectations. Truly game-changing for my fiction writing!”
—Dorothy Sewell
"He breaks down humour writing to a greater degree than the craft books or other instructors I’ve encountered and shows writers (of all stripes) how to do the same.”
—Ann Jacobus Kordahl
