Private Silversmithing Workshop – Make Your Own Gemstone Ring.Join Kathy in her home studio for a relaxedday of learning the art of silversmithing. In this private hands-on class, you’ll be guided step by step to create your own sterling silver bezel-set ring.No prior experience is needed. Beginners are very welcome. If you already have some jewellery-making experience, Kathy can tailor the class to help you build on your existing skills.With only 1–3 students per workshop, the experience is personal and allows for plenty of time to learn and enjoy the process.During the workshop, Kathy will guide you through each step of creating a sterling silver ring with a bezel set gemstone. Along the way you’ll learn the core skills used in silversmithing, including:

• measuring and sizing a ring
• sawing and shaping metal
• annealing and forging
• soldering
• texturing and finishing techniques
• creating a bezel setting
• setting your gemstone
• polishing your finished piece

You’ll also learn helpful troubleshooting techniques and practical tips that jewellers use every day.The workshop runs for approximately six hours and is broken into two relaxed sessions with a lunch break in between. *If you prefer, the class can also be split in to 2 x 3 hour sessions on different days.
