This time I had a plan for the knife and Ron was so helpful, he had special tips for me that helped so much. I enjoyed it just as much as the first time but was more relaxed as I had an idea of what to do. Even though this time the knife was so much better than my first effort, I still find them both just as beautiful.

I had barely used a hammer before and it felt amazing learning to forge and use tools like that - I couldn't believe what we created. Ron is a wonderful teacher, his workshop is amazing! We were part of a lovely small group so it was a fun day

Ron was our teacher - he was patient, knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to get along with. He let us add our own flair to the project while prioritising safety. The class was perfect for my participant, offering loads of benefits. It helped develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, encouraged creativity and self-expression, and built confidence and self-esteem. The unique sensory experience of working with hot metal was a hit, and it fostered problem-solving skills and adaptability. It was a great chance to get physical, and it even had a calming and meditative effect, promoting relaxation and focus. Helps that you get to smash steel with a hammer in a safe environment. The best part was seeing the sense of accomplishment and pride in the participant's work. We loved it and he's already planning the next class. Thanks Ron, see you soon!

Then we got straight into it. The best bits were heating the metal and bashing it, then having it come out in a shape that I wanted. The venue just felt like a blacksmith, so much forged metal in so many different varieties. I will be booking again, I liked it that much.

The workshop itself is beautiful space. We used a forge, hammer and anvil, belt grinder and whetstone to create a small knife with both clear and easy to follow steps but also room to personalise the design. We left with a completed, sharp, steel knife and a leather holster that we made from scratch.

The time went by quickly but sensibly with good stepping stones and demonstrations of each step to follow. Short answer - different but loads of fun, heaps recommended.

After a quick safety briefing you basically get right into it, with Ron there to guide you every step of the way. The 4 hours absolutely fly by. You will be amazed at how the steel can be manipulated after looking around his studio and seeing all the amazing things that can be done and made. If you're lucky, Rocky the whippet will be there and you can give him a cuddle. Highly recommend this class!
