We all know how delicious Japanese food can be, but did you know Japan also has a rich street food culture? It might be lesser known than its Asian neighbours, but Yattais (small food stalls) can be found at festivals and dotted along city streets during the warmer months.
In this class, Daniel Wilson, executive chef at Yakimono Restaurant, will lead you through some of Japan’s street food classics like karaage chicken with yuzu mayo, pork and ginger gyoza, prawn and cabbage okonomiyaki with bonito flakes and aonori, and everyone’s favourite, miso ora king salmon with sesame spinach and pickled cucumber. All paired with sake.
Please note, this is a demonstration class.
Whether you're looking for date ideas or hens party ideas, come along to our Japanese street food cooking class today!

  • 5/5 from Joanne Hickman, attended Jul 2026: Loved the chef, the inspiration behind the food, and the quality of the food. My son is already trying a recipe.
  • 5/5 from Jack Tremewen, attended Jul 2026: Fantastic teacher - walks you through every step and gives you lots of tips along the way - all dishes you can do at home but so delicious. A really fun and informative class.
  • 5/5 from Debra Lyn, attended Oct 2025: Daniel was a wealth of information on Japanese food. He kept us entertained while preparing the different courses, explaining each one in detail. We got to make the gyozas and it was nice to have the meal cooked for us while enjoying a couple of different sakes. Relaxing and information evening.
  • 5/5 from Tim Phillips, attended Jun 2025: What a fantastic evening. Chef Daniel Wilson showed us his amazing cooking skills, and how to prepare and cook 4 beautiful dishes which then became our dinner for the night, all paired with a Sake or two! The Miso Salmon on a sweet potato and ginger puree was a stand out dish, and his tips on cooking Japanese winter cuisine (and how to create great Japanese flavours in general) was an invaluable lesson. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience.
  • 5/5 from Natalia Chernaya, attended Jun 2025: Fabulous time, very informative. Really enjoyed the instruction and atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend it to others.
  • 5/5 from Ruth Sutherland, attended Feb 2025: This was a relaxed and engaging class, full of delicious Japanese food and practical tips to make it. Daniel is really down to earth and open to sharing his knowledge and experiences of working as a chef.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Nov 2024: Would have been fun to have a bit more hands on work but otherwise really great! Thanks :)
  • 5/5 from Xavier Madeira, attended May 2024: Went with a friend to learn more about Japanese cooking as we love eating it. Learnt how to cook several dishes. Good tips for cooking. Great fun and yummy.

  • 5/5 from Jonathan Nurse, attended Apr 2024: Great friendly atmosphere, a lot of fun. We will definitely be trying another cooking course.
  • 4/5 from Michael Grace, attended Apr 2024: The food was great and the chef showed how to make each dish well with bits if advice for the dishes sprinkled through the class. The downside was that it felt more like watching a cooking show then taking a cooking class as a large part of the class was talking about restaurants that the chef liked or was working in.
  • 5/5 from Dianne & Phil Casamento, attended Feb 2024: Really easy to listen, watch and learn. Great choice of food. Very pleasant experience. Can’t wait to try these recipes at home.
