Visible Mending for Weary Souls
Soft Repairs
(Re)pair, (Re)mend
Join artist NahBananas for Menditation, a gentle visible mending workshop and demonstration exploring repair as a practical skill, a creative practice, and an act of care.
Learn how to mend and care for the items you already own, including garments, towels, and everyday textiles, while embracing a culture of repair over replacement.
Through simple, beginner-friendly techniques, NahBananas will guide participants in repairing well-loved items and giving them new life. The workshop also considers mending as a reflection of how we interact with one another - reminding us to care for ourselves, each other, and our communities.
All kits and workshop materials will be provided. Participants are also warmly encouraged to bring a garment, towel, or other textile from home that they would like to repair, with individual guidance available throughout the workshop.
No previous sewing or mending experience is needed. The workshop is suitable for beginners and participants aged eight and above. As needles will be used, children must be supervised by an accompanying adult.
Saturday, 12 September 2026, 1.30-3.30pm
All workshop materials are included. Spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.
Come along to slow down, make something with your hands, and give a well-loved textile a little more care.
This event and the Bloom art exhibition are part of a Creative Residency program through FB IDEAs with Haiku Life (Greystar) at The Gladstone, South Melbourne.
