Pottery and Prosecco Workshop

Explore the world of ceramics with Sherbrook Ceramic Art at DeBortoli Winery Hunter Valley.

2 hours

Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 4 to 30
  $100 (Afterpay available)

Visiting the Hunter Valley and want to try something creative? Planning a get-together, birthday, hen's party or team-building session? Gather a group and dive into the world of ceramics with Sherbrook Ceramic Art at DeBortoli Winery. Have fun playing with clay with your group at a winery! At our prosecco and pottery workshops, we offer two different types of sessions, tailored for private events and group bookings---ceramic painting or clay handbuilding. Your group will need to choose which type of workshop at least 1 week prior to the session, so we can gather the right materials and tools.
1. For ceramic painting workshops, each member of your group will get a piece of ceramic bisqueware (choice of a round or square plate approximately 220mm in size). You will then be guided in creating a design suitable to your skill level and two-hour workshop duration. You will then be shown how to place the design onto your plate and how to apply the paint.
2. For clay handbuilding workshops, we will provide a 500gm block of earthy clay. You and your group will then enjoy a hands-on session where you will learn slab building and pinching techniques to shape and mould the clay. We will provide all the pottery tools so you can build beautiful and unique creations with our guidance through the whole process.
A beautiful location, the right materials, creative minds and a glass of Prosecco, and you have got yourself a perfect relaxing time!
Each session starts with a complimentary glass of DeBortoli Winery Prosecco. Food is not provided during the session, and BYO food or drink is not allowed by the winery. However, gourmet food platters and drinks are available to purchase from the winery (wines must be consumed in accordance with DeBortoli’s responsible service of alcohol rules).
This workshop is fun and social! At the end of the workshop, everyone will have achieved a unique artwork ready to be glazed and fired in our kiln. Please note that a food-safe clear gloss glaze is used on all the ceramic pieces. You will have the joy of collecting your creation approximately 2-4 weeks after the workshop. We will email you when your pieces are ready for collection. Pieces can be collected from our studios in the Hunter Valley or Sydney by arrangement. Can't collect? No problem. We can package and ship your pieces anywhere in Australia or overseas! Please let us know before the workshop so we can give you the shipment costs, and then you can pay one of our team at the workshop.
Please note: We take photographs during some of our workshops. These photographs may be shared as content on our website and social media platforms. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken and shared, please let us know before the workshop starts.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 4 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

  • Sherbrook Ceramic Art is a small family run business with art studios located in the bush shire of Hornsby and the Hunter Valley, NSW.
  • Established in 2011 when I was working as a healthcare professional. While on duty and particularly on a weekend, patients often felt sad and bored. I decided to gather up equipment and materials to set up arts and crafts sessions and invited patients to join in. They all found it great fun and helpful. This was the reason I decided to open an art studio for the purpose of bringing people in the community together, to attend, socially connect, explore their inner creativities and at the same time enjoy, unwind, relax, and have fun.
  • I love teaching and am passionate about all types of arts and crafts. I would love to guide you step by step through the process, teaching from the heart, so that you feel supported to create and complete your own masterpiece.
  • Lots of my relatives, friends, and colleagues at work comment, “You are so talented, is there anything you cannot do?”
  • As a young girl my mum, who was a very creative person, taught me sewing, embroidery, cooking and painting.
  • Sherbrook Ceramic Art is a place to come and be creative, unwind and be productive. As you enter my studio, you will be astounded by all the ceramic works on display and be inspired to create in the artistic environment. While you are sitting in the studio, you will have soft relaxation music playing as well as an aromatherapy diffuser on to calm your mind.
  • The classes and workshops are always pleasing for me as I get to meet the most beautiful people, share my passion for arts and crafts and treasure the smiles, the happiness on their faces as they complete their products and I am as proud of their creations as they are, for helping achieving their goals, whether that be big or small, first time or regular attendance.
  • I have done many arts and crafts courses and won many prizes over the years.
  • In 2010, I attended art courses and programs in America through Duncan Ceramics in California, Amaco Brent in Indiana and Mayco in Ohio where I learnt contemporary ceramic techniques. In 2012 I attended the Grazia Museum and the International School of Ceramic Art in Deruta, Italy where I learnt both innovative styles and classical Majolica techniques from two famous artists, professor Riccardo Muti and maestro Romano Ranieri.
  • Have a great positive beautiful day
