Even as melburnians we learnt a lot about some of the history. We had a smaller tour, just two other people, which made for a more intimate experience. The dumpling spots were fantastic and the variety was really good. Who knew there were so many different types of dumplings! Only feedback would be price of the tour for 15 dumplings each is quite expensive, however, taking into account the quality of our guide this wasn’t a massive issue for us. I didn’t expect as much history as we received so might be good to add in a rough itinerary so guests are prepared for this section. Once again no issues with this we enjoyed listening to the guide. Absolutely would recommend

At each venue we sampled dumplings from a particular region of China, learnt some unknown facts about dumplings, their prepartion process and cooking techniques. Dave also gave us some background history regarding Melbourne, which was fascinating. We would highly recommend this tour to everyone. It was a touch disappointing that ClassBento charged an extra fee to redeem a gift voucher that had only been purchased in Feb 2026.

Dave is a terrific guide - he manages a group with expertise, friendliness and has a wealth of knowledge about Melbourne and dumplings! We very much enjoyed the variety of dumplings and our stomachs had reached their capacity by the end of the tour. This gift card was easy to send and receive and the communication from inception to the closure of our event was excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending this dumpling tour. Bon appetit!

The restaurants we visited were great and the dumpling choices at each were all different, yummy and interesting to hear about the different regions they came from in China. The dumpling houses were varied and with each having their own specialties. Would highly recommend this tour.

The only thing I would maybe suggest would be to try more than one dumpling dish in the last two restaurants. Would recommend to both travelers and also Melbournians.

Our guide Chev was fantastic at offering recommendations for the best places to visit after the tour, ensuring that we got the most out of Melbourne’s vibrant dumpling scene. It’s clear that Melbourne’s love for dumplings is not just about the food, but about the experience—the people, the culture, and the joy of sharing something delicious with others. Favs for me were the Xiaolongbao and Sichuan dumplings!

Our host Monique put everyone at ease and allowed great conversations between guests, having only just met one another. Monique was very informative about the history of Melbourne, along with the history of each dumpling house. Had a fantastic time and would highly recommend. The Xiao long bao was my absolute favourite.

There was more than enough dumplings to eat at each spot, so much so that we had to pace ourselves so we didn’t get too stuffed by the end. Kim also taught us about the formation of China town and some history of Chinese immigration to Australia, which I found very interesting.

Kim provided a lovely historic commentary of Melbourne history, which tied in nicely with the different restaurants we attended. Well worth an evening enjoying Melbourne’s lifestyle.
