Hi, we’re Gloria and Calvino, the founders of Melscen Lab, a Melbourne-based fragrance studio where creativity, scent and personal storytelling come together.Our journey into perfume began with a shared fascination with the emotional power of scent. A fragrance can bring back a memory in seconds, change the atmosphere of a room, make us feel more confident, calm or connected — and we became passionate about understanding how individual ingredients could be blended to create something completely personal.What started as curiosity gradually became our craft and our business.Over the years, we have developed hundreds of fragrance concepts and formulas, worked with emerging brands and private clients, and explored everything from fine fragrance and perfume oils to custom scent development. Through Melscen Lab, we combine the creative world of artisan perfumery with hands-on experimentation, making fragrance more approachable for people who may have never imagined they could create their own perfume.Why We Love TeachingFor us, teaching perfume is about much more than explaining fragrance notes.One of our favourite moments is watching someone smell an ingredient and suddenly realise, “This reminds me of my childhood, ” or “This smells exactly like a place I used to love.”Scent is incredibly personal.
