Beginner Lost Wax Casting Workshop – 2.5 Hour Session
Join me for a relaxed and hands-on 2.5 hour workshop where you'll dive into the magical world of lost wax casting. This beginner-friendly class is perfect if you’re curious about jewellery making and want to explore sculpting your own unique ring or pendant in wax.
No experience? No problem! I’ll guide you through the basics in a warm, welcoming space—just bring your creativity and curiosity.
What You'll Learn:
How to shape, sculpt, and build your design in jeweller's wax
Adding textures and details using wax tools
Exploring different types of wax
The fundamentals of casting gemstones directly into wax
An overview of the full lost wax casting process
What’s Included:
All wax materials for your design
Note: Includes up to 15g of sterling silver – enough for 1–2 small, lightweight pieces. For larger or chunkier designs (like thick rings or big pendants), you may only be able to make one piece. If you require more than 15g, the additional cost of silver will be charged separately.
If you choose to work with 9ct yellow, white, or rose gold, you're welcome to do so, but please note that you'll need to cover the cost of the gold, casting fee, and GST separately. These fees are paid directly to the caster, not to me, as gold prices fluctuate daily and are significantly higher than silver. In this case, you're still entitled to create an additional piece in sterling silver, up to a total of 15g.
A selection of lab/nano gemstones for stone-in-place casting
1–2 finished pieces (ring, pendant or both) professionally cast, polished, and posted or for pick-up to you within 2 weeks
Optional Add-On: Basic Wax Kit $125 only instead of regular price $140
Want to keep creating at home? Grab a discounted Basic Wax Kit just for workshop participants.

Hi I am Jaf, of Jaf Elias Designs and I am a Contemporary Jewellery Designer and artist based in Naarm (Melbourne), and my work reflects the stories, emotions, and experiences that shape me. Jewellery, to me, is not just an art form—it is a language, a way to express the intangible, the personal, and the deeply felt. I create pieces that transcend mere adornment, becoming vessels for memory, spirituality, and transformation.
As an empath, I find solace in the whimsical, fantastical, and magical realms, drawing inspiration from the beauty found in imperfection, nostalgia, and the fleeting moments that shape our lives. My work offers an escape into these worlds, a space where the wearer can connect with something beyond the ordinary.
My creative process is intuitive and deeply personal. I combine intricate hand fabrication and complex soldering with the free-flowing nature of lost wax casting, allowing metals to take on organic, unpredictable forms. This balance of precision and spontaneity gives my work a raw, almost ancient quality—each piece feels as if it has been unearthed from another time, carrying with it a sense of history and mystery. I am drawn to textures, layers, and the interplay between polished surfaces and rugged, untouched edges.
Rings hold a particularly special place in my heart, a connection rooted in childhood memories and the sentimental weight they carry. But beyond rings, I create jewellery that tells a story—pieces that feel like heirlooms from an imagined past, infused with meaning and emotion.
Through my work, I hope to offer more than just jewellery. I want to create small, wearable worlds—pieces that invite wonder, evoke emotion, and remind us that even in the most delicate details, there is magic.
