Join Melissa for a relaxed and creative private clay workshop in Sandgate/Brighton, Brisbane. In this hands-on pottery class, you and your group will design and make your own ceramic pieces, choosing from mugs, bowls, trinket dishes, or a simple themed project suitable for kids. If you are stuck for ideas, don't worry, as Melissa can help tailor something easy and fun.
Over the course of the workshop, you will learn how to hand-build, shape, and decorate clay with confidence—no prior experience needed. Melissa will guide you step-by-step, keeping the session fun, friendly, and tailored to the ages and interests of your group.
After the session, each creation will be glazed and kiln-fired to make it food-safe, strong, and long-lasting. This private pottery experience is perfect for families, grandparents and children, creative catch-ups with friends, small celebrations, or beginners wanting to try something new.
Private sessions are available at flexible times, and all materials, tools, and kiln firing are included.
What you'll get
Guests will receive all materials, tools, and guidance during the workshop, and their finished pieces will be glazed and kiln-fired, ready for pickup approximately 3 weeks after the class.

I’m Melissa, a potter and English teacher based in Brighton on the northern bayside of Brisbane. I've been more seriously doing pottery for about four years after taking a class in wheel throwing. Working with clay is addictive, good for personal well-being, and achievable — and that’s why I keep coming back to it.
I now work from my home studio, where I enjoy both hand-building and wheel throwing objects that I mostly gift to family and friends. I'm a member of my local community studio, which allows me to learn from other potters. I now fire at home wiht my own kiln and mix many of my own glazes.
Alongside making, I've taught high school English and Arts for about ten years. My workshops are calm, encouraging and thoughtfully structured — and I cater mostly for beginners
I'm fairly confident that after a class or two, you may catch the very contagious pottery bug and I hope you do.
