# Pizza, Focaccia & Bread Making Class Melbourne
Learn how to make homemade pizza, focaccia and bread from scratch in this hands-on cooking class in Melbourne.
This relaxed, practical workshop is designed to teach you traditional dough-making techniques that you can continue using in your own kitchen.
Whether you are a complete beginner, a home cook wanting to improve your baking skills, or simply looking for a fun hands-on activity, this class is a great way to learn the fundamentals of homemade pizza and bread.
## Let's Get Baking!
During this pizza and focaccia making class, you will learn how dough is made, how to work with it and how fermentation and proofing affect the final result.
This is a home-style pizza experience rather than a commercial pizzeria course. We focus on practical techniques that can be used in a domestic kitchen and oven, so expect rustic, hand-shaped pizzas rather than perfectly round restaurant-style bases.
## What You Will Learn
During the workshop, you will:
* Learn the fundamentals of pizza, focaccia and bread dough
* Understand different types of flour and how they affect your dough
* Learn about yeast, hydration and fermentation
* See how dough is mixed and kneaded
* Work hands-on with freshly made dough prepared on the day
* Learn how to handle, stretch and shape pizza dough
* Prepare your own rustic-style pizza
* Learn how to handle and shape dough for focaccia
* Understand proofing techniques and timing
* Learn practical tips for baking pizza, focaccia and bread in a domestic oven
You will generally work in groups of two or more during the practical part of the class.
## Working With Fresh Dough
You will work hands-on with freshly made dough prepared on the day by yourself.
This gives you the opportunity to practise handling, stretching and shaping the dough for your pizza and focaccia.
### Fermentation & Proofing
During the class:
* You will work with freshly made dough
* You will practise shaping and preparing your pizza and focaccia
* We will demonstrate the complete dough-making process using pre-made dough
* We will explain fermentation and proofing times
* We will show you how to finish the process at home
* You will receive instructions for final proofing and baking at home
This means you can see the complete process while still getting plenty of hands-on experience during the class.
## What You Will Take Home
You will leave with:
* Your prepared dough ready for the next stage
* Instructions for final proofing and baking at home
* Practical tips for making pizza, focaccia and bread
* A better understanding of dough fermentation and proofing
* Techniques you can recreate in your own kitchen
* Certificate of Participation
