In this workshop, you will learn the ancient skill of cordage making and the looped basketry technique. You will be shown how to turn plant fibres into strong and functional cordage/string, which will then be used to loop into your own small pouch, bag, or basket.
We will be using locally sourced and foraged materials I have personally picked and/or processed myself.
You will get to explore and experiment with various types of local native plant species, weeds, and even food scraps to create your piece. We will also touch on how to best source, harvest, and process the materials we are using.
Looping, also known as knotless netting, is a versatile technique with a history spanning back thousands of years and found in many cultures around the world. This technique can be used to create both functional and sculptural, lightweight pieces. The repetitive, rhythmic stitch fosters a mindful and meditative creative environment that you can relax into.
I believe creative expression can thrive in harmony with the planet—and in turn, provide harmony within us. I am dedicated to inspiring and showing others how to create art in a sustainable, waste-free way.
Please note: You will receive a confirmation email 24 hours before the event.

My creative practice is deeply rooted in my belief that nature nurtures. A plant fiber enthusiast, I weave baskets out of organic material I forage for and process myself.
I was born and raised in Melbourne, with Greek heritage and generations of women who love to craft with their hands. I have spent the past 4 years living in my campervan learning how to weave with mine.
I'm mostly self-taught. I spend a lot of time outside observing: the plants, the seasons, their growth, the cycles. Experimenting and creating straight from the source with what the earth provides. I create pieces that reflect my skill and adoration for the natural world.
My joy is not in selling what I make -- but teaching and sharing knowledge, with an aim to make you feel something magic when you attend a workshop. To experience a lingering feeling of awe.
Passionate about the peace the plants can provide - my practice is centered around healing yourself through art and moving your mind through your hands.
